SPY ware...

I have an idea my wifes PC is infected. Anyone have any anti spyware they'd suggest?

TIA and Happy Thanksgiving

Try Ad-Aware. It works well, and it's free.

  • SpyBot

Use SpyBot Search&Destroy along with Adaware. What one doesn't find the other DOES find. And visa versa.

    get SpyBot here

    And it is also FREE.

    Your firewall

Any software based firewall that controls inbound and outbound traffic (ZoneAlarm as an example) should be completely reset or reinstalled so that each application has to once again get your permission to act as a server (send information out). If you aren't running a firewall, this may be a good time to get one.

The other thing you can do and this will take a while is to open up "Task Manager" on your PC. This can be accessed by right clicking on a blank spot of the Windows toolbar. Select the "Processes" tab and then click directly on where it says "CPU Time". For every program above 0 seconds, do a search on the full filename in Google or something like that. The one thing that cannot catch is a spyware program that is cloaking itself so that it resembles something that is legit.

    Good luck.

    ad-aware...

    I agree.
I have been using adaware for a few months now, and it seems to do a great job. (Can't beat the price, either!)
