Attached are some pictures of my old Burnham Jubilee, it's piped a lot like the boiler on page 50 of the "Lost Art" ("job in Pennsylvania"). The other guys in the house say they hear water hammer, but I only hear gurgling, hissing and whistling (but the vents don't spit) and a rare, quiet clunk.
I put some insulation on the risers a few years ago, and will insulate the 1.25" by 22' main soon. I have also attached a picture of the takeoffs at the end of the 22' main (coming in from the right), which is probably a good illustration of how not to do it.
Putting in a main vent where none has gone before seems like it might be rather difficult. Would I need to cut a section of main, thread it, add a union and a tee - or would I try to bore a hole in the main and thread that?
I have a bad habit of buying supplies before I commit to a design or think things through. I have some fittings and a Hoffman No. 4 vent in its box, which I suppose I could trade in for other stuff at the place where I bought it a few years back.
Lastly, I attached a picture of the odd little radiator in the bathroom. It's 24" high by 26" wide. It's supported by the gate valve at the right and a hockey puck under the left end. I'm guessing it's about 12 sq. ft. EDR, because I have no reference for it.
