Boiler Piping Strategy

I just spent some time researching the propanels. Beautiful. How long to install them though. I guess time to run the sensors, pipe to each device. I can never guess right on how long piping takes, and I usually short change myself. I like that each panel has boiler protection. And the wiring done is a real time saver. I love to wire up a control but time is sometimes short. Does Danfoss panels have anything comparable?

    Looked at a job

where the customer wants to add an indirect to an existing boiler. He also has a side porch that is loaded with windows, has copper finned baseboard and has never been warm. It obviously has to be on a separate zone. He also wants to add 2 panel rads down in the basement. The main house is great big magnificent cast Iron Radiators that were originaly the emmiters of a gravity system, so they're way big and oversized. I was thinking of re-piping to primary secondary and putting the cast iron zone on an outdoor reset, the indirect on priority and the baseboard just 180 degree water. Which boiler control would help control all this and help protect the boiler from any low temp return? Is there any pre made panels that could handle this? WW

    I'll bet.......

You could massage a Wirsbo 311 (or a 311 ProPanel) to work with this. Use VSI or mixing valve to control the radiators and the high side (boiler reset) for the baseboard and panel rads. Add a 071 sensor into the indirect well and control the hot water also. Sweet!

    one pipe hot water system

I am looking at replacing a boiler in a large home which has a one pipe hot water gravity system. There is a 4 inch main which has what appears to be a special tee with the supply comming out of the top and the return connecting into the "bottom-side" of the tee. Also the smaller loops have the supply tee with the fitting facing up and the return tee facing to the side. I can understand how the gravity hot water would flow with the huge old boiler, but that probably won't work with a new boiler with a pump.I'm looking for suggestions on this if you can help. Thanks Tom O
