antique radiator section removal / repair

An old radiator Q&A January 12,2000 was a very informative article. One thing I'd like to add is that you are not out of luck if you wish to re-size a radiator with threaded nipples. You simply have to be bullheaded like me and don't give up. First, devise a tool that looks like a lollipop to grab the inside of the nipples to turn them. Next, heat the area gradually with a good hot torch and once you get the nipple to turn a little, move to the opposite end of the section and loosen that one. Finally, unthread the sections evenly, clean the mating surfaces up, cut a few gaskets, reassemble, paint and congratulate yourself for not giving up. Mike
