I read through Dan Holahan's Hydronic Radiant Heating, A Practical Guide for the Nonengineer Installer. He mentions that tar paper between the oak and sub floor gives off an odor when heated. Makes sense. Has anyone dealt with this issue. Is the smell associated with the start up? If so does the smell go away? This stinks because I just had the wood floors installed with tar paper! I was going to do some floor warming. Is this out of the question for me?
By the way get Dan's book it very good.

if your ...
just doing floor warming you are probably OK. It all depends on how hot the floor temp. gets. the lower you can keep the floor temp/water temp. the better...beefing up whatever you use for insulation on the underside will also help. kpc0 -
warming the floor
Thanks for the advice, I plan on just warming the floors and want to keep the water as cool as possible. I thought if I got the floors to 75-78 degrees that would accomplish what I want. The house has baseboard which will remain in operation.0
