similar to a Bacharach 10-5022. I am looking for something to check and adjust efficiency for residential or small commercial oil burners. Does anyone have any advise on quality, price, ease of use, reliability, etc? What (if any) do you use?

Thanx always
Jake

    Combustion test kit

They are expensive about 600 for a new test kit. You might want to check on ebay under hvac and pick up a used one.

    Bacharach pro 125

is what I use. Nice unit also has printer, check out www.oiltechtalk.com for pricing. I would stay away from buying a "used" one because you really need one that's up to date and one you can trust! John@Reliable

    Combustion analyzer

    Hi,

I use the TPI model 712. It runs about 100 dollars less than the Bacharach in our area, has a 3 year warranty, and comes with an infared printer also. In addition, it can download info to your PC using an adapter, measures temperature using two seperate probes, so it can be used to measure temp rise, superheat and subcool etc; It reads pressure in millibars kilopascals or inches of water, so it can be used to check gas manifold pressure, test pressure switches, check static pressures in ductwork etc. One last feature is that it can also be used as a combustible gas leak detector.

By no means am I saying that the Bacharach is not also a good meter, but combine all the additional capabilities, reduced cost, three times the warranty, and I think it is a better deal.

These are available currently from any distributor who deals in Carrier and Bryant products.

    Hope this helps

    Tim
