Problem prevention is profitable

Let me state from the beginning that my company has a vested interest in the promotion of system cleaning and system treatment in hydronic systems.
We sell a cleaner and a treatment product specifially designed for Hydronic Systems.
Ok, you know where we stand.
Now let me tell you what I hear on the phone daily from home owners and contractors around the country.
Here is how the conversation goes. "We have a problem with xyz system". Do you have a solution? The circulating pumps are ruined. The boiler seems to be losing its efficiency. The water in the system is almost black. My energy bills are way up. I have pen hole leaks in my copper tubing.
The worst part about most of these calls is the problem was preventable. You got it, it did not have to happen.
My company made the reputation we enjoy dealing with industrial boilers and cooling towers. These people in those situations are preventative maintenance advocates beyond belief. In many instances, they are doing system checks every shift. The point is they know that prevention saves money and time.
Now in this area of hydronics which we have tackled, we find this is not the case. Problem prevention is not the norm. Many on this forum are preventioned minded, but it is not the way I hear it on the phone.
I believe that we can help all who will listen make more money and have better customer satisfaction. It seems to me that you are better off bidding a new job, than going back on a problem call-back that could have been prevented. I would suggest that the beautiful installations that are done in these systems is not the end of the job. Cleaning a new system and then protecting it from future problems makes good sense from a business standpoint.
I hope that this post is not taken in the wrong way, but when I hear similar problems almost daily that did not have to happen, it made me want to tell the world that these things are not preordained.
There are good answers and reasonable solutions to problems that show up in both new hi-tech systems as well as old systems. But best of all these difficulties can be prevented by treatment and annual checkups.

    And that is a NON-AURGEMENT

What you have said George is the truth, and like the media knows the truth does not sell newspapers. Folks will place 20,000$'s in a heating system they want to never have it stumble in any way, Install it and forget it. Your absolutely correct, they will not even look into the system. Why? who knows? It is just human nature, I guess. Not a subject for "over morning coffee" However let it be cold or wet inside and "Mourning coffee"comes up hot. I wonder if a national advertising campaign would wake up the public. It is not only Water for and in a heating system but what about our potable supply? Homeland Security should begin in our homes! We take everything for granted far too much! jmho bigugh
