New Radiators

on an existing steam system.
The new owners of a house in SF didn't like the look of the old cast iron radiators; difficult to find new, attractive radiators for steam. Someone directed me to the Steam Radiator company, a branch of Runtal radiators. The architect and owners liked them and asked us to replace most of the radiators in their house with the newer kind.
I was a bit concerned since we'd never used these before. They are all tapped 1" and some of the radiators have a high enough EDR to warrant a 1¼" supply and valve, but the people at Steam Radiators said 1" would work.
We fired it up yesterday for the first time since construction began to dry out the house. After the boiler started steaming, the new main vent did it's work and rushed the steam to the radiators and the radiators got nice and hot; no banging.
Thanks to everyone that helped me, particularly Steamhead, Mad Dog and Noel.
All the best,
Alan

They provide you
with a 1" x 1/8" bushing for the air vent, but the 1/8" threads are recessed and the threads of the Danfoss TRV wouldn't reach; we had to buy bushings and paint them.
Other than that, they are fine.
