I picked up a pool test kit, however it only goes to 8.4 on the scale. I would like to find something with a broader range.

Thanks all!

Yellow pages, under \"Water treatment\" (NM)

  • I used to use a chemical company's treatments

And I bought a TDS/pH meter from them, and chemicals for testing the amount of treatment.

I only had one boiler, 150 HP.

Maybe George at Rhomar has something.

    BP, I checked with

our plant boiler maint man and he uses a digital that he got from the chem co. It's a Betz-Dearborn, but what is interesting is it is a temp. compensated model ($400+/-) and Betz recommends that type because high temp alters the reading. Also, they record readings from the boiler feed tank because some of the boiler treatment chemicals stay in the boiler and will alter the reading compared to condensate coming back. So there are two places to check the PH, in the boiler and at the condensate return. The range of PH they hold is 7.8 to 8.5. I learn something new every day.

    We have

the baseline solution and the pocket pens. Your cost about $130 with shipping. These pens are temp compensataed and have three calibration points of 4.0 7.0 10.0

    Hope this helps.

    ph test kit

Try http//www.hach.com They have kits and instrumention to test any boiler condition. Most of the boiler chemical people buy their test chemicals in bulk from them, repackage it and peddle to the boiler owners at a considerable profit. For example, we were buying a biocide test strip from our chemical suppler for $12.00 a pop to test our cooling tower treatment. Found the same test strip thru Thomas Register for $70.00 a hundred. Now we buy our test chemicals from Hach in quarts and pounds at 1/10th. of what we were paying. Jon
