    Yellow lab...

Mine's been gone for nearly 30 years, and I still think of him. They are great dogs. I don't know of any in Ohio, but one of my co-workers got hers from a breeder in NJ that has a website www.tulgeywoods.com She's a beautiful yellow, but still in that doofus puppy stage. Sorry for your loss, good luck in your search.

The hardest thing I ever did..

was having to put down my first dog. I am indeed sorry for your loss and hope your new dog shows up soon. Sorry I can't be of any help on the new dog. But if I hear of one I'm not too far away (Michigan) and I'll keep you in mind.

    Dawg

My black lab was hit by a car this past July. I had said at that time "That's it- no more dogs..." beacuse I did not ever want to go through that ever again. Sure enough,in late August we went to look at some yellow lab pups, and now I own Murphy. I am not sure if he will ever pass the doofus stage. At six months old, he is just an 82 pound doofus who will chew anything. I have watched him look over a shelf of video tapes and pick one particular one out, as if he has a taste for Disney that moment.
Your new dog will never replace your old dog, but it will bring you laughter and aggravation. I wish you the best.

    pure love

Dogs love you no matter what. Bad day ? Loose a bid ?
Loose your temper ? Dosn't matter, the dog still loves you.

Some of you may remember my post last New Years about my dog. I still think of her.

Dogs are the best ( even the mad ones :0 ).

    worst part

    was telling a 5 & 7 year old that the dog wasn't coming back,Dave
  • Guy , I have almost the same story

My black lab was hit by a car also , early this September . Part of the reason I missed the first Iron and Beer night . He just turned 9 . I also said no more dogs because it was hard to get through .

After a month the house just seemed empty without him so I said we should get another lab , but not black , too much of a reminder . My niece , who lives with me , found a yellow lab from a lady who breeds them in her own home . He's a character , now if only I can get him to stop peeing in the house and chewing all my good stuff - he chews anything except his bone .

    Ouch, that hurts....

My Dad made me put my black Lab down after he got Lepto, when I was a boy....still puts my heart in my throat.

You can replace them with another one, but it is never the same....

I told my boys that they had just seen the movie All Dogs Go To Heavon. " Thats where Ruby is " It seemed to help.

My wife was concerned about getting another dog. I told her we gave so much love to our dog it would'nt be fair not to give that love to another.

    It's never easy

I remember putting my first dog Zac to sleep because of cancer. I went home and cried like a baby. We now keep 2 dogs so they can keep each other company all day. We love labs and are interested in the new breed Labradoodle, which is a cross between a Poodle and a Lab. The strong points are; it doesn't shed, It's smarter than a Lab (Let's face it, if you put my Lab "Morgan's" brain in a bird, the bird would fly backwards) and it still is as loving as a Lab. Seems like a recipe for success. Although I have met some Boxers that I like too. WW

Sorry for your loss - as you can see alot of us feel your pain. I had a Dalmation that we had to put down - he was my best bud - just reading this thread gets me all choked up. Well I too told my wife no more dogs - one time I am glad she didnt listen. She found a retriever pup in a animal rescue - for 2 whole days I managed to keep my distance because of fear of attachment - well that third day I just couldnt help myself - he is now 9 months and the best thing to happen to me since I got married. He is always so happy to see me and just loves to hang out with us. Best damn dog we ever have had - his name is Cosmo - he is my new best bud!!! Will try and post a pic - now I got to go home and play some ball.

    I wish they were mine................

They live on an estate in Old Westbury, where I got that nice Bundy radiator. They are huge, the Sheperd is one of the biggest I've ever seen. The Rottweiler was still only a 10 month old pup in that pic..Both sweet dogs. Mad Dog

    losing a family member

I really feel for you. Sorry about the loss. I don't have another dog for you but I would suggest you get another dog from an adoption agency. We got our dog there and they put in a chip and provided all the shots and had her spayed for a very small fee. We went to the pound for our cat and we found that it was a very expensive procedure.
