Steam return pump

I've got a 1.6 million btu steam boiler in a mid size apartment building. It is set up one pipe with a condensate pit and pump to pump the water back into the boiler.
Can I eliminate this pump assuming I have enough slope on the piping to get the water back to the boiler? I believe the pressuretrol is set at .5 psi max.
Thanks,
ChrisL

Sounds like
someone buried the old boiler in the pit & installed the new boiler at floor level. Chances are the condensate return pump was installed because there is not enough "A" dimension at the end of the mains. I would start there.

Yeah Ron is right..something changed there at some
point in history. I would check the whole system carefully before making a move. Mad dog
