to run a new wet return just above the floor. Just make sure it stays "wet".

    any good reason

I can't replace it above the floor ? I think it may be contributing to water loss. HO says he fills boiler (no auto-feeder) 3-4 times a day, and it's not even COLD YET. I found 3 leaks in the boiler. This appears to be 2nd boiler as it's on blocks in a pit. Probably coal 1st w/ a Hoffman #1. As long as water line is at same height and loop seals are "wet", shouldn't it be okay ? Can't find reference to this in "Lost Art".

    TIA,
    Tony
