Indirect Domestic Water Heating

One thing an indirect water heater will not guarantee is fuel savings, due to human nature - If a family has an immersed tankless coil, they probably all take shorter, cooler, lower flow showers. If a family has a decent-sized indirect water heater, they each might take a shower that is 3 times longer, at full blast, if they can. The advantage is mostly comfort and adequate hot water provision, although you might not have to maintain a minimum boiler water temperature during the non-heating season, if you setup the boiler as a cold-start (most experienced guys don't recommend this, for the boiler's sake).

Indirect Domestic Water Heating
I am trying to determine the cost of installing the smallest indirect water heating system as a separate zone on a residential oil-fired boiler to replace an immersed water heating coil. I would love an answer like, "I installed ten 30-gallon systems last year, and the average cost was $_______." My second question is how much savings would there be? A great answer would be, "The average measured savings for the ten homes above was _________ gallons per year."
Thanks.0
