Has one. Years ago, when I started on the wall, I would get up in the morning and see the exhaust going. I started looking at the unit and thought it was pretty good.

Then I started asking on the wall. I told my nieghbor it did'nt sound like a good unit, lots of problems.

Then I moved.

Its still there !

No Maintience.

No service.

At least 12 years old.

uuuuhhhhhhhh....

Scott

    The Washington Post

ran an article this morning recommending upgrades to heating systems. It made very good points about AFUE and paybacks of investment. They should have stopped there. They then recommended several brands of furnaces I had never heard of, and for the boilers they recommended W/M & Burnham, (OK by me) and then Glo-Core. Glo-Core! egads are they still in business. Did they ever work out the kinks in their system? I feel like calling the paper and asking the writer how long ago they researched this article. My experience with the GC monster was less than desirable. Am I wrong? WW

bumped into one just the other day and...

the owner gave me the blow by blow annual repair heartaches. Asked me if I was familiar with these boilers(G).

He's elected to install a gas fireplace for this winter's heat instead of repairing or replacing it. (Not my recomendation!)

    Glocore

Yes, they're still in business, but owned by a new company out of Texas and in some cases still honor warranties. Wasn't that bad a unit, but the big problem was using a pressure switch to prove flow, and with over 23' of head loss though the heat exchanger, it took a mean pump to get the water through it. Besides, isn't there something wrong with using a pressure switch to prove flow in a closed hydronic system? DUH!!!!!!!!

    glow core

All right I hate to admit this but I bought a place up north a couple of years ago and it had been converted from electric to gas prior to my purchase, & yes I am the proud owner of a 10 year old glow core boiler. Except for a faulty igniter changed last month I have had no maintenance issues. I did review the installation and the installer followed the directions to a tee. I have been prepared to change it out as soon as it creates a problem. A perfect application for a Vitodens.
