Cold floor heat loss calc help

is what's going in. It's just regular concrete slab on concrete foundation, no insulation whatsoever. We're at 70* design around here. So, the floor will be a problem, I just need a factor for the program.

Thanks,

Gary

Cold floor heat loss calc help

    Hello,

I need help a job I'm sizing up. The 17 x 14 room is being built on an existing porch slab. The slab is maybe 12" off the ground. Two sides are exposed to outdoors, one side in against the garage, and the last is againt the house.

    Should I do a 1.07?

    Gary

What kind of heat are you putting in? Radiant? F/A?
    It'll matter.

What kind of construction is the "slab"? Concrete? Supported by what? Metal?

Is there a chance of adding insulation under, or around the perimeter of this slab? What is the design temp for your area?

  • Gary, Im not sure if you are looking to calculate the entire room or just the floor. Manual J has the information you need. I can look it up for you but I would need your design temperature and your loction in the country. The floor is calculated using running feet of exposed edge. I would also need to know if the slab has perimeter insulation

I can do the heat loss, it's just the floor that had me wondering, like every other contractor I'm usually normal wood frame flooring.
