Helping some friends here.
Larry and Suzanne Weingarten wrote The Water Heater Workbook and I've known them for years. They are very gentle and wonderful people. If you were at Wetstock III in Denver you met Larry. He was the fellow who spent the afternoon talking about the house he and Suzanne are building near Monterey, CA. It's off the grid and has some very unique systems, all of which Larry designed.
On September 30, just after Larry returned from Wetstock, Suzanne had a stroke. She's a young, healthy woman and this came as a complete shock. The clot was centered in her brain stem and it really hurt her. She's in rough shape right now but has great spirit (as does Larry) and he's caring for her. She has a chance at recovery but it's going to take round-the-clock care after she returns home from the hospice.
Larry and Suzanne run a small business, repairing and maintaining water heaters. Much of his time will now be spent with Suzanne so I figured he could use some help.
I've got dozens of feet of shelves here in my office and they're filled with old books. I've collected these for 30 years. They've been the souce of the information that's in my own books. I figure it's time they left here and continued their journey. That's what books should do, journey around and do good.
I'm going to sell them here and the money will go to Larry and Suzzanne. Here's what I have in mind. I'll be listing books in this thread with a description and a price. The first person to claim the book at that price by posting his or her intentions below the listing of the book here on the Wall will be the new owner. That person will then send a check for that amount to:
Larry Weingarten
P.O. Box 928
Monterey, CA 93942
Then just email me your address and we'll mail the book to you. Simple, and everyone benefits.
Thanks so much for helping these good people, and enjoy the old books!Retired and loving it.0 -

BARR & CREELMAN CO. CATALOG
No date on this one, but I'd peg it at 1920 or so. Barr & Creelman Co., based in Rochester, NY, was a supplier of plumbing, steam, water, gas, pump and mill supplies, pipe, pipe railings, fittings, steel flag poles, radiators, boilers, engines and a host of other items. The catalog is 694 pages long with hundreds of photos and rating charts. Just about everything that had to do with plumbing & heating in those days. Boiler feed pumps, Honeywell Heat Generators, you name it, it's in there.
SOLD TO STEAMHEAD
Price $25.Retired and loving it.0 -

The Efficient Use of Steam
I've got to have that one. That's Oliver Lyle, the same Lyle as in Tate & Lyle, the UK's biggest sugar refiners. There's everything in that book you could want to know about steam, even Co-generation/CHP, all in BTUs & Fahrenheit.
I'd like to give you the book back, to keep or sell again as you wish. It would cost too much to send it here.I've read most of it, but I learnt more by reading the Wall.0 -
