Looking for a Chicagoland Steam Heating Contractor

As a HO in Chicago, I know there are many who advertise as steam experts in the yellow pages. When getting estimates, I found that 2 of the 4 companies knew of Dan and this site. I chose a company who said they did not. My mistake. I didn't choose them based on price, but on the fact the sales person was the owner of a family company. I guess I liked that fact, dealing with the owner. Near boiler piping was not very good, only used one takeoff from the main and reduced that from 2.5 in. to 2.0 right out of the boiler. They also bullheaded the take offs to the mains. Owner said the work was fine, even though it didn't match the required specs in the boiler installation manual.

After a season of problems, a friend and I re piped much of the near boiler piping. So far this year, much quicker heat to the radiators and much less surging of the water level in the glass. I've been resident to post after pictures, even though I know you folks are pretty gentle and helpful to us home owners.

    need a steam heating contractor in the Chicagoland area

    I have a property in Maywood that has free standing radiant heaters with a steam boiler. 4 of the 5 radiators are not heating up. I believe that possibly the valves are stuck closed, but I am not sure. I do not know how to check this. I have spoken with Mr. Steve Minnich, but he is not working with the steam heat. He requested that I post this out here. Please let me know if you will be able to help me.
