I have a gas hot air furnace and my question is, when my heater is on hot air comes out of the supply duct while cool air blows out of the return ducts. Is this how it works?

Contractor recommendation in Chicago: Radiant Comfort Systems
I had a situation in my 1910 house with hot water radiant heat, where I had some "questionable" work done by a contractor, and lost trust in the installers doing the work.
Looking for a second opinion on the work that had been done, I called up Steve Minnich of Radiator Comfort Systems in Rolling Meadows and explained my situation. Steve came over the same day and spent a good hour, free of charge, looking over the system, and pointed out several mistakes my installers had made. He offered recommendations and gave me literature on proper installation techniques. This gives me ammo when I approach the contrator that did the work to get him to fix his mistakes.
Steve is competent and professional, and I wish would have found him before I had the work done!0 -
Thanks Rich
My hope is that the contractor who installed your system will take responsibility for his mistakes, correct them, and learn something from it.
If not, you have my card.:)

Your returns are sucking...
cold air, not blowing cold air. Depending on the volume of air being sucked thru the grills, it can actually feel ike it is blowing air, but you can confirm that the return grills are sucking using a piece of tissue at the grill, the tissue will get pulled against the grill indicating it is sucking.
Also, just so you know, if you have future qusetions here at HeatingHelp.com, it is best to click on "The Wall" in the pipe on the left, and then click on "New Thread" near the top, and then ask your questions. Otherwise your question will get lost if you tack it on to another thread like you did here.0
