What do you folks think about the Crown

Crown makes a good boiler, and since I am in nor'eastern Pa. my suppliers can usually get out of stock materials to me next day (shipped or picked up) I really really Like Crowns indirect heater and recommend them on every indirect install no matter which boiler goes in. Stainless coil in stainless tank with a top acces port that you can actually use and see in. Has come in very handy in a couple of problem installs where even filtration has not been able to control sedimment. Also makes it easy to do routine PM's like flushing( which is recommended for any storage vessel)

Looking for opinions on the Crown Freeport

I am replacing an older Weil Mcclain with a coil with a new boiler and indirect tank. I looked thru a lot of posts and don't see a lot of mention about the Crown boiler. I like the cold start and the low water volume as it seems to be something that would save money. What do you experts think?

    Crown Freeport

is a nice litle boiler, but HEAVY! Over 500 lbs.! Check their web site for the manuals. Not realy recommended for cold start as they expect a 130 degree return temp.

    How about

a Biasi. 3-Pass boiler, low water content, life time (not limited lifetime) on the iron. Great little boiler.

    Aside from Viessmann.........

Crown is the only other boiler line I offer. As we speak (sort of), we are putting together a Crown Freeport and Mega Stor indirect. To control the entire system (mixing, boiler reset, domestic hot water), we will be utilizing Wirsbo's 311 and Belimo mixing valve. This project is an upgrade from an old tankless. The house is full of cast iron, hence the mixing valve. It will put the radiators on full outdoor reset while protecting the somewhat smallish Freeport heat exchanger. Will be a sweet little package!

    Crown Megastor indirect

Keep in mind that crown only warrrants theie indirect up to 80 ppm chlorides in the water.
I've seen one be eaten through in several months time.
Viessmann warrants theirs to 500 ppm chloride.
    Much better.
