    One sweet JOB!

I like the stand-off board mounting of the components and the HIDING of the always ugly wiring. I had to look carefully at what appeared to be ball valve handles mostly closed, befor I realized it was flex conduit! Now, the only other thing I see is the stand upon which the boiler is placed. I learned the hard way that the top of the stand being the same size as the boiler is not recommended. The boilers are designed to be placed upon the floor. or at least a much larger area platform. It has to do with draft and ambient cooling about the boiler its self. It may be that in a couple of months you should check and see if there is signs of over temp inside the controls area. It may be that you will have to slide a sheet of metal under the boiler to correct the small area it sits upon.

    Thanks

Thanks for the comments guys; this job is not finished yet
I still have 3 zones to complete, that’s why some valves are closed, oil line is temporally connected, new oil tank needs to be installed, LWC will be installed, DHW recirc will be installed, back panel will be extended another 16", remote fuel gauge will be added and I still have to remove the old green monster.

    Nice!

Just wondering how you are protecting boiler from low temp return water? I can't see a bypass loop. That's a sweet panel!

    Low water return

Cosmo, Buderus has a condensate protection feature with their Ecomatic controls. I belive its called "PUMPLOGIC"
"Their control interrupts circulator operation when the burner fires into a cold boiler. Once a specified temperature is reached in the boiler, the pumps are permitted to run. This temperature is ajustable and set with pumplogic setting." This is from their instruction manual for Logamatic R 2107
  • Test ?

If thats a test , I wonder what the real deal will look like . Beautiful install Tom . I like the individual temp gauges on each return pipe also . What type of heat do they have in the home ? Looks like you did the patented - cut the pipes and move the old beast in 15 minutes - shuffle . I do that too when we're pressed for time .

    The reason why I asked

FYI, I had a job a long time ago where I installed a 115-21 onto a converted gravity CI rad system. This was before I knew about primary/secondary or worried much about low temps back to the boiler. When in operation the Logomatic kept shutting off the circ to let the boiler heat up (like it is supposed to), and it worked like that for a whole season. Let me tell you what that did for the circ, and efficiency. Not to mention that when outdoor ambient temps went down fast it was hard for the boiler to heat up the house fast enough. Now this was an extreme example, and I fixed it by adding a bypass line w/ a danfoss thermostatic bypass valve. I went back to that job about 4 years ago and modified the piping to a primary/secondary set-up that now works much better, even though I lost my shirt on that job....but did'nt do it again!!! I'm sure you won't experience this with your system, my goof up was kind of an extreme example, but since then I have always installed cast iron boilers w/ a primary/secondary setup to keep that boiler hot.
From what I remember the 215 Series has a lower return temp design.

I like how you hid the wiring!

    Really Sweet !

Very nice work, well layed out !

Bigugh, I think what you ree refering to is only an issiue with atmospheric gas fired boilers. Wouild'nt that be correct, as they pull air from around the boiler. The oil burners make up air owuld not be affected by the design of the stand.

    Am I wrong ?

    Scott, No I am!

after reading and looking at the pic, I see that! First there is no "enclosed" controls with a oil burner. It is one more time I shot off my mouth without looking more carefully at the job. I live in the west, where oil is not that much used. Tend to think gas and see gas whenever looking at jobs. Of Course I am the only one that makes these kinds of mistakes! I do not mind admitting it as, 1. I get to laugh at my self, 2. somebody else gets a laugh, & 3. If you do not laugh at this life, you cannt see through your tears. Thanks for this precious moment! bigugh

check the spelling on my post

You can see I am never wrong :)

Hey , all my pencils have erasers on them.

Really though, you bring up a subject allot of people don't think about. If this was gas, the job would look great but might have problems down the road due to the problems you mention. Its one I would not have given much thought too untill I came to the wall. Please keep making mistakes :).

What kind of oil filter is that and who sells them? The only thing available around here is the old felt element General filters.

    Thanks in advance
