cast iron baseboard

Thank you, you'd think that the supply house that 'rented' me the tool would have mentioned something about Permatex. Thanks again.

    cast iron base board

I am assembling a heat system from parts other people have thrown away. I picked up a pile of cast iron base board which had been disassembled. I rented a tool to put it back together. However, it leaks at the seams. Not much, but a leak non the less. Should I replace the bushings between the sections. If yes, how do I extract the old bushings? Where do I purchase now ones?

    First, try

cleaning the push nipples ("bushings") with fine steel wool, also the sockets they fit into. Get them nice and shiny. Then apply some soft-setting Permatex to them and put them back together. This should work unless you have a crack somewhere.
