i was wondering about how everybody deals with repeat oil saturated boilers and what is the easiest way to clean and get back on line without liting it off and smoking out the house with most it just a case of soot and condensation and lack of annaul cleaning lint and low return water temp.they always seem to be a bunch of underlining reasons for it . i feel alot of these problem are because of the lack of a low limit aquastat and a cheap installation price to keep the custermer.it seems like a harder sale to install the corrective parts to avoid these promblems thanks in advance for your input

Not to be a smart a.......but,

I have ever had a "repeat" one. The first time is the time to fix it! If a coldstart water boiler it gets a different aquastat with low limit, if steam it gets a strap on aquastat. Bad chambers are replaced, end cones or complete blast tubes are replaced. The first time is the time to do this as the customer is ready and not willing to go thru it again. Explain not to shut it off during the non heating season and why the extra $25.00 of oil is still cheaper than having you there again and most will agree, the ones who don't, I tell them to call someone else! Hope this helps John@Reliable

thanks john these where things that i suggested one of my fellow employies pokes them thru and down sizes the noz and lights them off lets them smoke em out i go with your suggestions the underlying promblem is it's a lerge systems on the mains and rads i thought a dual aqua stat and flow chks to stop gravity and a system by pass to temper the return and prevent circ short cycling the owner usally refuses to pay any bills figures that we should service and replace whatever parts for free i don't know if thye company i'm working installed it or not but i figure that there no way this guy will pay for anything i personally would drop the guy but it's not my place i'm a hired gun and you can't change the whole world or fix it all so we will see what happens today thank you

    Consider adding a by-pass to

negate the cold return problem and in my experience a cold-start boiler (they stink, BTW) does a much better job with a chamber or at least a floor blanket.
