    Electric hand trucks

Can't remember if i have gotten your thoughts on these. really close to purchasing a electro-truck. Getting tougher each year to man handle the boilers and sections. What is everyones take on them in general and brand preferance.
    Thanks

Those cast iron boilers aint getting any lighter as we get older . We recently bought a Power Mate hand truck . Works just like the Lectro hand truck - the plate lowers or raises to the next step . It lifts great with heavy boilers , but it's almost 200 lbs itself , just like the Lectro , and it doesn't come with good hand hold pegs for the side , like the Lectro has .

We used to have the Escalera - it has 2 little nubs connected to the stair wheels that pull the load up or down . That handtruck is real lightweight and was the easiest to handle with heavy loads going up . Going down was tricky - sometimes it would slip down a step when you least expect it . The Escalera runs about 1/2 price of the Lectro or Power Mate .

    My Lectro truck............

was the first major investment I bought when I started back in '92. I only use it a few times a year since I'm not into the hack and slide boiler replacement market. We just pulled a 1000 lb. WM up out of a basement with two guys. Invaluable. That, plus I have less chance of making a workman's comp claim which would cost me much more than the truck, I'm sure.

    Don't know about the price.....

But we had a lectro truck at my last place of employment. The only thing I really suggest , is to make a "counterweight" to assist in moving it around empty.

Like Ron said, it weighs almost as much as a small boiler. We made a weight just for moving it from place to place and my best guess would be it was around 200lbs. The battery pack/holder is placed high and is quite heavy, and to counter that it takes quite a bit of muscle or something to equal it. In the right hands, it's a wonderful tool. In the hands of someone who doesn't understand "balance points, or pivot points" it tends to be a menace. Get the seller to give you a thorough demonstration FIRST, and make sure everyone who's going to use it understands. Chris

    Thanks guys

as far as price i have had quotes around 3000.00 for either power mate or lectro...research shows that the lectro is heavier duty as far as motor etc. also for me they are close to where i am in jersey.
