latest boiler replacement

when is it time to replace? There has been some water leakage over years during summer from front coil connection it dripped down past combustion chamber. The door is pretty corroded with rust. The system runs fine. Should this have happened? Can I replace gaskets, coils, combustion chamber? Or is it time to replace unit? only 12 years old

This is the first time....

I have posted some of my work here on the wall...my new apprentice has a digital camera! This was an emergency replacement.Leaking, plugged boiler, blown xtrol,much too neglected and in a very moist dirt floor basement.Weil was only 15 years old. I am a bit shy to add this little job considering all the great work I see here....kpc

We bought our install teams each a little digital for before & after of every job. Got high quality units for $100 each closeout.

were a bit hard to tell much from. If I am not mistaken it looks like a steel boiler...steel is fine provided there are no leaks..they will kill a steel boiler in no time. Boilers w/ tankless coils must be checked at least yearly if not semi-annually for any leaks. As long as the rest of the boiler (like a weld)is not leaking, a good cleaning and a once over and replacing any leaking gaskets, you should be in good shape. Have a good service /burner guy do the work. 12 yrs is not that long..but niether is 15.What is the afue eff.? kpc
