Combustion efficiency

I changed the firing rate of our boiler that is for our 1852 church. The reason is that the boiler is oversized by a factor of 2 and it was always short cycling. The firing rate was changed from 5 gph to 4 gph. It is a model 876 Weil Mclain. The flue gas temperature is 575 degrees F. I borrowed a combustion analyzer to test the co2 levels of the flue gas but there was no reading. I first used the smoke density tester and the readings were <than 1. Is there a need to make any more adjusments?
