    Boiler Relief Valve Discharge Piping

    I am in search of code information on the piping out of boiler safety relief valves.Mainly the difference (Hydronic vs. Steam)Any info. with sources is greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Relief piping,

    The biggest difference...Steam relief is 15 LBS. , MOST hot water relief valves are set at 30 LBS.

    All should terminate "within 12" of the bottom of the boiler" meaning , discharge pipes should terminate within 12" of the floor.( If the boiler is elevated CYA. Put it within a foot of the termination.) I like to keep them as near to the floor as a small bucket will allow. Sometimes , this will keep you from a "after hours repair" for the night. Chris

    thought NY was within 4 " of the floor, and have done so "forever" :) Keeps that scald potential "down".
