HVAC Software Information
Im a new kid on the block for this board. From the posting this seems to be the place to be.
Im writing hoping someone(s) can lead me in the direction to get the ball rolling.
Im seeking to do a career change combining both skill sets within the HVAC industry with emphasis of Information Technology. When seeking assistance from my college and/or voc-tech instructors much isnt provided and its difficult when coming from the old-school of vocational training with a BS in CIS. It seems that Im talking a language not understood because IT and HVAC seems to be out of their scope.
Could someone help and/or lead me in a direction for HAVC software resources opportunities?
Thanks so much0 -
Some good places to start.
You gotta talk to Siggy. He is simply THE premier designer in our industry IMHO. His website is http://www.hydronicpros.com/ This site shows some of his work: http://www.engsw.com/Drawings/Siegenthaler/Siegenthaler.html
You might be interested in this company. It just developed an extreemly valuable tool for those of us into radiant floors. It's called loopCADthere site is: http://www.EngSW.com/
I have some others I can look up for you if I am on the right track.

Building control systems
sounds like what you are looking for. Our company builds computer based control systems that integrate many of the functions of heating, cooling and ventilating a large building with other areas such as lighting, security, fire protection, etc. You can do some research on the www.invensysibs.com web site and related sites. Also, other companies such as Johnson controls, Siebe and Trane may give you some clues as to a match with your skills. Our company has local offices that contract work on buildings of all kinds. If you look up a local office they will probably have someone that "speaks your language". This field is expanding and changing and people with skills in both HVAC piping, equipment and computer control are in demand. Best wishes.0 -
Art's right
Computer Intigration & heating systems is a field that is in HUGE demand and will continue as long as fuel prices rise. It's a good job. Lots of security.
