if there are any humdifier contraptions that would fit over this type of radiator? Right now Im using foil loaf pans filled with water on top of the convectors inside the rads. A bit of hassle taking the cover off and on and was wondering if anyone has seen or knows of something better..

    www.Aprilaire.com

    Model 350/360

These two humidifiers are completely self-contained units designed especially for installation in homes with radiators or baseboard heat. Equally suited for other types of heat, they are sized to fit within closets, heated crawl spaces and basements. These humidifiers have an evaporative capacity of 0.50 gallons per hour and are able to handle a home of up to 4,500 square feet, if the home is tightly constructed.

i've seen home made jobs with two clips that hold the pan over the element for thoise type of convectors but still a hassle to remove the cover every coulpe of days to refill also have seen glass jar holder that seem to work better asnd are easier to clean good luck

For refilling the pans without having to remove the cover every time, rig up a funnel and plastic tubing thin enough to slip through the louvers on the cover.

Another option is a 1-gallon plastic milk jug with a petcock/thin tubing.

Many more variations to this idea...

Before you attempt to humidify the house I would grab a can of foam and go around sealing up all ceiling pentrations into the attic.
No leaks into the attic, less draft in from walls/windows and it also may help alleviate the dry conditions.

As for the funnel/jug/plastic tubing idea, a section of rigid tubing may make it easier to reach/hit the pan when you insert it through the louvers.
Plastic tubing alone may be too curvy/floppy to control.
