Help! Contractor placed monoflo tees on the SUPPLY side

I had a new one-pipe loop placed in my house to include additional radiators for the first floor, and my contractor placed all the monoflo tees on the supply side of each branch. Another contractor I had review the work said they should be placed on the RETURN side of each branch. This was confirmed by: 1. Dan Holohan's article on Diverter tee hot-water heating, 2. yet a third contractor my installer brought in, and 3. in a brochure/document from Bell and Gossett on Monoflo fittings.

Despite what these references tell us, my contractor is saying it doesn't matter. He said he confirmed this with someone at B&G, who told him it doesn't matter which side of the branch the monoflo tee is placed. So he refuses to correct it. (He is coming back to fix a bunch of other mistakes he made.)

Does it really matter which side the monoflo tee is on? Does it make more sense to put it on the return side of the branch? Why? I need some ammo here please...

Thanks in advance!

    B & G red ring monoflo

tees can be installed on the supply, the return, or both if necessary, but the red ring must be between the risers to the branch.

If you go to the B & G site you can download the installation instructions.

    Mono-flo

I had e-mailed Bell & Gossett a while ago about this. I asked them that because most of us are now "pumping away" from the boiler should we place mono-flo tees on the supply side of the radiator. They replied that they still prefer the tee to be on the return side in a normal application I.E
normal pressure drop for the radiator.
    Hope this helps!
    Take care.

Rich, as long as they are all installed the same way, your system will be just fine. I speak from experance, as I have witnessed jobs installed "wrong" and they heat just fine. Stay warm bubba.

    The only

differance i can see is that you cant really isolate the radiation if the shut off valve is in the supply. If it is working and it should it will be fine...I had a homeowner install his own boiler and reversed all the monoflos b the way he piped the boiler...the arrows were not even the right way and you would never know unless you looked
