Two pipe steam

I looked at a system today that is two pipe steam. I measured all the rads and made notes of all the leaks. Some rads have steam traps, some do not. Why is this? The existing boiler is a Burnham v36 with a gas gun burner. The rating of the boiler is 888 sq ft , i have 466 sq ft of rads. The hand valves are marked Broomell.Im going to replace the boiler any input on the traps would be helpful.

Thanks Ray m

    Broomell

A Broomell used a P-trap fitting on the return side of the radiatior. It is smaller then a thermal trap .It looks something like a pregnant union. There is a small passage above the trap to let the air out .If the rad does not heat , the passage may be plugged and could be cleaned through the plug on top.The supply valve is a regulation type valve . This is a low pressure system you may want to install Vaporstat rather then a P404.....

    Maybe some radiators didnt heat

and the old Broomell water seals were replaced with traps. Either will work, but it would have been easier to clean the vent holes in the water seals.
