I was wondering any online suppliers of electric radiant heat. Was looking to put in a b-room under a tile floor. Cant do hydronic as not feasible and lack of space for any bb. What brands. Pro, cons etc. Any online resource is helpful too. Thx

I am currently looking at this stuff as an alternative to installing a new steam radiator in a new bathroom:
http://www.warmfloor.com
Their website is less than impressive, but if you call they are very helpful. They will send you a kit with a sample of the material as well as a CD-ROM with additional info. Pricing isn't cheap--it's about $10/sq ft for a room up to 100 sq ft. The advantage is that it is very easy to install.
Anyone out there have any experience with this stuff? I'd be interested in hearing about it.0 -
Quite frankly I think I'd try it
No experience, but it sounds like a really interesting product because is modulates inherently--I just love it when that is stated.
Heat output seems rather limited though. 1,536 btu/hr in that 100 square foot space or about 15 btu/hr/sqft.
Since baths typically have a low ratio of heatable to actual square footage, supplemental heat may well be in order.
Does though sound easy to tile over. I've used "Warmfloors" heating cables--wire that you install with little clips and spacers provided. Instructions were nice and accurate until, "tile as normal". HATED putting tile over this as the clips spacers were too high for the THINset mortar on tiles about 12x12. Wound up tiles MUCH more uneven than typical until I started removing the clips/spacers as I went. Would have used the "mat-type" but bath is extremely irregular in shape.
Christopher Thies (doing design and layout) isn't a relative to my knowledge by the way.
