36 YEAR OLD WATER SYSTEM MAKING NOISE...

MY CLIENT CLAIMS HER HOT WATER BOILER MAKES SUCH A LOUD BANGING SOUND AT NIGHT, THAT IT KEEPS HER UP...THERE IS NO AIR IN THE SYSTEM.ALL BAESBOARD GETS HOT...THAT TAKES CARE OF THE AIR ISSUE...ITS NOT A RATTLE, THAT TAKES CARE A THE FLOW CONTROL VALVE...I RAN IT FROM A COLD START,AND RAN IT TO OVER 200 DEGREES TO DOUBLE CHECK A STEAM PROBLEM...I HEARD A VERY VERY LOW SOUND THAT HAD TO BE LISTEN TO IN COMPLETE SILENCE...IT SOUNDED LIKE A WATER HEATER THAT HAD NOT BEEN PROPERLY FLUSHED OUT AND THE SEDIMENT AT THE BASE IS TRAPPING AIR AND FLASHING TO STEAM..
IF THEY BLEED THE SYSTEM TOO MUCH, IS THIS POSSIBLE?
IF SO, WHY DOES IT NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME?
THANK YOU FOR YUOR RESPONSE,
RICHIE AMATO...

Could the boiler be perkulating from sediment in the bottom of the boiler? I've heard boiler make a very loud noise from that. You might be able to use chemicals to remove some of the deposits, but with the boiler being 36 years old maybe its time to start thinking replacement. If you do replace, find out where all the water is going.
