FIBERGLASS INSULATION

Everyone,
I use a lot of 1" thick fiberglass insulation to insulate steam pipes.
With the recent fire at John Mansville here in NYC no supplier in the NYC area has any fiberglass insulation available. They are offering something called "Insulite".

I know that Owens Corning makes fiberglass insulation, but it seems that they won't sell to anyone who used to buy from John Mansville. This is what I hear. This is why no one in NYC has any fiberglass insulation available.

Does anyone have a lead on 1" thick fiberglass insulation?

Does anyone have a supplier who does buy from Ownes Corning? I could order directly from them and have it shipped to NYC if I knew who to order from.

Does anyone have an opinion on this new "Insulite"?

I'm sorry if I'm repeating an earlier discussion. I had major eye surgery (detached retina) and major office network changes recently and haven't been on the net for over a month.

    fiberglass-good luck

I am in the same dilemma - my job specs call for fiberglass and nothing else. I have ben told that Owens Corning is filling existing large orders rather than accepting new ones. A possible solution: HT Armorflex, for high temperature.

    insulation

I just went through this also, Bruce Pluming supply is a good start. I was looking for 2" wall thickness insulation for 2" c.t. I ended up going to Bergen Industrial Supply.
    Good Luck!!!

    Alternative

You could raid your local hardware store.
They package 1/2" fiberglass pipe wrap insulation in small bags in the weatherstripping section.

Frost King is a common brand around here.

I suppose it depends upon how much you need, and whether someone has beat you to it...

got production going in a temporary plant. Insulation is arriving at supply houses as I type. The kicker is, the machines they are using, until Ohio comes back on line, make 4' sections, rather than 3'.
