What can be done with this one?

I have a sweet old gal whose entran system is giving up the ghost. I know the tube is eating itself because of some maintenance I've done on the boiler. The boiler is now developing problems because of it. Its a 1991 vintage Buderus Loganogas (don't ask where they come up with those names) On this boiler are steel plugs in some of the un-used tappings and to date two have corroded through. She just called agin and told me another was leaking. At least I'm assuming that is the case again. Anyway..... I know the tube is going to fail completely. It's all very hard and brittle feeling. I also know that the boiler is being eaten from the inside out. Is the anything that can be done along the line of chemical treeatment to stop the corrosion in the boiler?

something w/ a lot of...
corrosion inhibitor in it. To save the boiler is it possible to isolate it w/ a HX? kpc0 -
Raise the pH...
and keep it there. Take it to 8.5 with TSP or whatever you can find and the corrosion will cease. You have to maintain that pH. Also as KC said, install a heat exchanger to isolate it from the oxygen.
Sorry for her plight.

Yes and no
You could inject some chemicals to lessen the corrosion. HOWEVER, you really don't want to flush out the fluid in the system! Doing so will flush any remaining plasticizers out. These may be the only thing keeping the hose in the "leak proof" condition.
Unfortunatly you would really need to flush, clean, and refill the system to add a conditioner. If you merely add the conditioner to that corroded system, you will probably ruin the conditioner right off. You really need a clean system for inhibitor system to function.
Sort of like never changing the crankcase oil in your truck and just adding a quart now and then
You, and your customer are in a tough spot, unfortunatly. The was some luck with reintroducing plasticizers into that old hose. Not sure what happened to that project. Maybe since GY has gotten out their checkbook....??

is one place to try. There may be some help from Watts Radiant ($$$) still available. Worth a call.
All things considered, I start thinking about a plan B for heat distribution. I don't think time is on your side.
Good luck.
