Gravity System

I went on a old gravity hot water system that was converted long ago to forced circulation (circulating Pump) Has 2 cast iron free standing cast iron radiators in the basement. The smaller of the 2 always worked, the larger one never worked.Someone installed auto vent on problem radiator long ago. No air In Radiator. Would installing mono-flows on inlet And outlet of radiator do the trick?

Are the supply and return of the radiator connected to DIFFERENT mains? I'm presuming this is a two-pipe system. If so the rad should be connected to supply main and return main. Perhaps someone was engaging in a bit of "wishful thinking" and just connected both to a single main line?0
