Loud Clanging?
Confused Southerner
Member Posts: 1
I must admit that radiators are a wholly new experience for me, coming from the land of mass air conditioning. I have one in particular at home that makes extremely loud clanging noises (read: I couldn't do better if I slammed the radiator with a hammer) intermittently in the middle of the night. What causes this and is there anything that can be done about it?

sounds like water hammer..........
from a steam system. Click on the steam problem? part on thr side postings.kpc0 -
banging is not always good
make sure valve is opened fully and radiator is pitched toward valve to avoid trapping condensate between cycles.0 -
Is this?
A steam system??
If so you may have liquid slugging, a sagging pipe will do this by allowing steam to condense and become water again this in tern will be slammed into the next pipe mostly due to the system velocity.
If your system is a hot water system maybe your cushion tank needs to be purged, ultimately you are at the right place to find help the people here are truely the best!!!0
