Got a call on the machine this morning. Guy has a small job that needs to be done, please call.

O.K., we called.

Three baths to rough in, New boiler, change forced hot air to Hydo-air, and some gas piping.

We thought he needed a faucet installed. I hate to see his big job. :)

    Piece a' cake!

    Done in two daze!

Tell him it will cost 1.5 million, today only, act now while supplies last, void where prohibited.

If only it was that easy.

I had a call from a guy that wanted me to tell him what size boiler he needed for his new modular home. He was referred to us by a couple that we installed a system for a while back. then he tells me HE'S gonna' install it himmself!

Said that he "probably" couldn't afford me and the "quite honestly, I find that most of the time I have to go back and fix contractors mistakes anyway"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I asked him if he had EVER installed a boiler before and he said "No, but I have sweat pipes."

    I told him that

#1: He has NEVER asked me for a quote so how does he know that he can't afford me?

#2: Sweating pipe is not a qualifier for installing a heating system. if it was, then I should be able to sew up folks that had operations because I've sewed a few patches on a jackets from time to time.

#3: He should read EVERY manufacturers warranty disclaimers that tell him that the system MUST be installed by qualified contractors or the warranty is VOID!

#4: He needs to take a minimum of 25 courses on combustion analysis, buy a $900 combustion analyser, take a minimum of two years of classes on oil burners, and then put all the money he "saved" doing this himself into a high interest bearing account, cuz he's gonna' need it when the problems start popping up. I do not service equipment I did not install. Period.

He's mailing me a set of prints this week.

I remember when my son was two years old, he tried to put something into a wall receptical. I told him no and moved him away from the outlet. Little while later he was back. I told him no again, little louder this time, and moved him away again. Third time I said "NO!" and slapped his hand. He never did that again.

    See what I mean?

Great Mark..but be careful he might be sneaky and use all your info to either...buy the equipment or for others to bid against. Tough business we are in

    Good points Paul

And that is why he gets nothing other than a proposal that will be NAMELESS.

No equipment sizes, pump sizes, etc................

I just got off the phone with this customer.

This is his retirement house. How bad do you think he wants to play with it?

    But

If he plays with it to much he could go blind.

I keep walking onto jobs where everything is ready to go and waiting on a plumbing or heating contractor to go to work. Problems is we can touch anything for about two months.

    Two months eh?

Good! Then you can meet me at that house in Newton in a couple of weeks and see what needs to be done.

I am recommending a few Mitsubishi ductless split systems which you folks should be able to handle.

I'll tell you more about it later, but I am supposed to take a ride out there in the next few weeks.

Oh my you mean you smacked your child's hand?

Did anyone see it? The PC, big brother crowd is always watching.....good for you Mark. Barbara and I would've done the same. Spare the rod...spoil the child. That's the problem today - Parents want to be their kids "friends". I see it on job sites all the time: Parents let their kids roam around whilst men are working and get annoyed when you politely tell them that this is a dangerous place. Mad Dog
