Gas Slant Fin Boilers

I know that there are many people who would ask "why install Gas" With the raising rates of fuel, I have installed oil boilers for the past few years and have also talked customers out of buying or switching too gas for the price of the fuel bill. I have recently came across a customer eager to remove this old oil beast that supplys heat to four apartments, he has already had four gas w/h installed so the gas is already there. I want to know how reliable the Slant Fin Gas Boilers are, I have not been a big fan of the oil boilers they have (from prior service calls) One more thing that I like is that all the units I plan to install will be direct vent (no chimney,or atleast one that I can vent all appliances in) Any suggestions will be helpfull. Thanks

    I like the Slant/Fin Galaxy

it's a well-made, reliable gas boiler. I've never had to replace one, though I've had to repipe some lousy installations. The Galaxy isn't direct-vent, but S/F has some similar models that are.

For what it's worth, I know of a few Slant/Fin Liberty oil boilers around here, and they have held up well too.

If something does go wrong, S/F has some of the best people in the industry backing up their gear- Noel Murdough and Bob Flanagan are regulars here on the Wall.

Is this a steam or hot-water system?

this system will be H/W the apartments are 770sq ft each with existing base board, the whole pupose of the change is to put each tenate in charge of paying there own fuel bill, the owner pays for it now (oil) Like I said I wanted to put oil but is a far greater expense to him, four boilers and oil tanks and you run into the problem of codes that states 660gal or I bielive construct fire proof rooms. I was looking at the Victory 2 Gas Boilers.

    From what I can tell

by reading the literature, the Victory II is a power-vented version of the Galaxy. That means the basic boiler should be just as reliable, though I can't speak to the power-venting system having never used it.

I'll send this thread to my friend Noel, who I'm sure can answer any more questions you have.

    4 boilers?

Wouldn't 4 small wall hung boilers be better? All the other gas models start at 50MBH. Don't want those units short cycling. How you making hot water?
