Drop header club

First drop header, about a hour to do including putting the 2 boiler halves together by myself. If the abatement guys ever show up we'll change it out by the end on the week. We've had this account for over 40years with a tank of oil a week in the winter,my dad had a tear in his eye with the news they were finally changing the boiler out.I've tryed to talk them into it for 20 years and thank God they are.I'll post finished photos so you guys can beat me up.Dave

  • Shaping up great Dave

Looks like you got alot done by yourself , very quick too . Hey wait , you're cheating with that aluminum wrench . Actually , we got em too . We used to use an all brass 4 foot wrench , what a monster .

Speaking of monsters , I hope the abatement crew is taking the old one with them too . That looks like a beast . Good luck Dave .

    Welcome, Dave

Looks great. Think you'll get them down to a tank every three weeks?

    hope so......

doing away with the tankless and adding a oil fired water heater to and existing 40 gallon booster tank. Big saving would be great for them as they had to take out a loan for the work. Dave

    Drop header club

I find great intrest in all the photos of some beautiful pipe work {art to me }of drop headers.Haveing been in the heating game as long as i have(30 odd years),and cutting my teeth installing replacement steam boilers in Brooklyn, and Queens,"THE BRONX",and some in nassau (older sections),brings back memories. One comes to mind when working for a new comp-y i installed a amer-std A-3 steam blr.Piped it dropheader because of hight.Job steaming boss shows up says it is the most lousy hook up he's ever seen(40 yr in oil buss)Tell me repipe to his drawning do knocks like hell, fires me at end of day.Calls back 2 days later, will i come back and to work for him and show his crew how pipe dropheaders.Have always used dph in most installs, the "Dead Men" who taught me a lost art nice to see "Youuss Guyss" bring it back areal life saver at times, thanks for listening .
