HWH draining question

She has never flushed her HWH in the 8 years of ownership.
Would opening the flush valve on the bottom and draining some water out do any good at this point? Could it be harmful?
(Im thinking the same thing when people get their car radiators flushed after years of leaving it alone and wind up causing more problems by disturbing sediment and stuff and wind up getting leaks)

after 8 years
you'll probably find the drain valve either is plugged up with sediment, or wont close completely after you touch it...0
