Seems like a while ago somebody here posted a link to a free site to stop these nasty unsolicited pop up window advertisements any body remember it or know of one. They were gone for long time now everytime I get on get half dozen or so. thanks

    Try

    using The mozilla browser, it has a popup blocker.

    I've been using it for about 8 months now as my default browser without any problems on XP sp1

    Browser or Messenger popups?

    It depends whether you are talking about browser popups when you go to a web site, or if they popup when not even using a browser.

    If running XP and not using or behind a firewall, Windows Messenger (not to be confused with IM) can let spammers and advertisers take advantage of you, even while not using a browser and you have not fallen for a trojan or spyware.
