Venting gas boilers

Regardless of requirements, performance will be much better with a lined chimney. Analyze the cost of the new boilers plus the relining system BEFORE selection of the equipment. You may want to go with Catagory III system rather than a Cat I. III's can be side wall vented with a special vent system (which may vary by manuf). I's can be vertically (nat'l draft)vented or side wall vented with the addition of a power venter. BTW, a masonry chimney is 11th century technology venting a 21st century appliance. Does not work well.

Do your boilers have combustion air? I have seen the old
clay lined chimneys form condensation. Back in my residential days, we used to install a chimney liner.0 -
