Radiators don't push out air, won't heat
Have 2 systems, original Richardson with 10 radiators, mixed with 3 add-ons with steam traps(just maintained). Problem is upstairs Richardson won't heat(steam gets to it but won't fill(disconnected radiator, it is not blocked), checked ball trap, seems ok, downstairs radiator add-on, same problem. Just added Gorton #1 and #2(replaced old Trane vacuum type) vents. Any ideas?0 -
I'll bet
you'll find there's a problem with the dry return. The air vents thru the water-seal unit ("ball-trap") or thermostatic trap and back thru the dry return to the main vent in the boiler room. If that part of the dry return dips down and accumulates water, the air from the radiators cannot get by.
