What's this conical disc rattling in cirulator?

Sombody drilled a hole somewhere through something. That looks like the last chip you get when your semi-dull bit breaks through a piece of metal. Looks like brass. Judging by the shine still on it its not too old. Funny it wasn't in the strainer though.

Smaller than a penny and conical and quite thin

My Taco circulator started rattling today so took it apart and found this thing by the impellor. The system is a gravity conversion with a Y-strainer on the return so I don't think it came from there. The boiler is Peerless Pinnacle 140 ther is an indirect water heater on a seperate priority circulator too. Any ideas?

I put the circ back and it runs fine so far.

    stray brass disc

My guess: It appears to be the remaining portion of the shaft hole in the impeller. When the impeller was screwed onto the shaft the shaft pushed the brass disc almost off. After running for a while the water turbulance finished the job.

    Is that bad?

It has the same shape as the front of the impellor but it has a steeper slope.

Did it have a purpose or was it a leftover?

I think this looks like the last chip you get

when your semi-dull bit breaks through a piece of metal. I would then suspect it is from the boiler and probably a 7/16 inch bit. Could such a beast come out of a Munchkin/Pinnacle?
