York Air Handlers

I am working on a house built in 1976 it has 5-york air handlers that i require a btu load for. York does not have any info older than 20 yrs. does anybody have a method of calculating btu's based on dimensions of the coil or a catalog that is 27 yrs old from york.

    identefying units

    take a look at your line set and check the condensing units even though you swhould be able to locate name plates on the air handlers most suppliers have ari books that tell them the size of old stuff.if not write down the model # of the condensing unit or the compressor tags you should be able to id them from that .if you are going to replace them anyway why not just see what there connected to and just resize the job usally i just go over thew whole system and don't go by the return sizes usally they are traditinally to small.check the sie of your supply duct that may give you a clue good luck

    york can usually be decphired from the model number, what is it??? other thing to remember though is that you'll never get the right SEER if trying to match a condensor to those. they are almost 30yold ,they are ready for the trash can. sell them some new variable speed AH's that way they have a warrantee on everything and will have greatly improved performance.
