Infrared/ RF Thermostats

Wirsbo makes a very nice wireless stat set up. Sounds like just what you need.

  • Infrared/ RF Thermostats

A client needs a new boiler for a multi-family apartment. Boiler operation is controlled by indoor / outdoor t-stat. Each tenant gets heat whether they want it or not. One circulator pump. Would love to install individual t-stat in each apartment but pulling t-stat to each may be difficult or not possible. Does anybody manufacture infrared/RF t-stats to control either a solenoid or individual circulator?

Also, is this idea a bonehead mistake or something worth pursuing?

    WOW

Just go a bit further, and tell us how the system is piped, Series loop, monoflow, reverse return, BB, or rad's? you may be able to place each heating element upon its own T/S and really do some good, without running any wire! or batteries!

    Thermostat

Honeywell makes a remote thermostat, but how cost effective it may be for you is another issue. It certainly is a great idea.
Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRVs) may be a better option. They would allow the tenants control of their own heat, but only to the extent of the overall operating control (outdoor or central thermostat).

    Yes, we do, but...

We do have an RF stat, the T8665A1002, which works with the W8665A1009 Receiver panel, but I agree that using this many would be impractical. The thermostatic radiator valve option is much more cost effective, and you could use our V100 series valves with T100 or T200 actuators. You also might want to consider the AQ675A1002 outside air reset unit, with an appropriate 3-way mixing valve and actuator. All of these products are available from any hydronic-oriented Honeywell distributor. Check out tech sheets at www.hbctechlit.honeywell.com
