Burnham Spirit
You can use the chimney as a chase to get outside, but only with AL29-4C Z-Vent. It must be the ridgid 3" type pipe. You can vent up to 50 equivalent feet of pipe depending on the size of the boiler. Remember that each elbow or tee is equal to 5 feet of pipe. You should also terminate your intake air from the same geographic location to ensure balanced conditions. This should also be done with smooth wall pipe and not corrugated. These options are well explained in the Installation Manual. If you don't have one, it can be downloaded and printed in PDF fromat from our web site. Hope this helps.

Burnham Spirit
I have a Burnham Spirit gas boiler. Can I use the chimney as a chase with z vent? Burnham says its not a good idea, but why not? The way the house is set up, I can't go out a wall. Thanks, Jon0
