Teaching Hydronics

sounds like you are doing a great job! I would love to do that someday and educate young skulls full of mush. Keep up the good work...I may be asking you for the sylabus. kpc

    It's happening

I took on the job of teaching hydronics for my local ACCA chapter with the hopes that it would teach me, and clarify my understanding of things hydronic. Well I must say, its happening. If any of you think you know what you know, just try to explain it to a room full of bright intelligent faces who are turning everything you say over in their minds to make sense of things. We're halfway through the course and last class I was drawing a piping diagram on the board when a student raised his hand and asked. "wouldn't you need a flo check in that spot to stop any ghost flow?" I just beamed inside. These guys are forced air techies and they are starting to "get it." I am taking them to an RPA meeting next week to get another dose of hydronics culture. But the cool thing is my understanding of things is getting clearer. Things I thought I understood I now know I was not clear. It's one of the best things I could have done for me. WW

  • Makes you feel good

I train techs, utility people, engineers and others for a living and every single meeting will bring this kind of joy. As I stated before, we never stop learning Wayne. Every new question that comes up gets addressed in the next meeting. Congrats on your new found adventure and keep up the good work.

    Ditto.

Teaching classes and seminars have taught me a whole lot. There is always at least somebody who tells you something you didn't know. Isn't it great being able to learn every day?? Our Industry is just soo exciting. I love it.

    Making time

for the future leaders in this industry.

Well done Wayne. You are to be commended.

That is a very generous use of your valuable free time.

See you at the RPA-WAC meeting with Dan Holohan next week.

    Thanks

for the support guys. I guess the point I wanted to make is I am the one learning. I fall victim to my brains laziness and don't force myself to think unless I have too. (It's very similar to exercise. I never work out as hard at the gym as I do when I am playing soccer against someone else.)This teaching thing forces me to think things through and boy things are Illuminating in the old skull cap. (Gosh I really do have a brain!)
