Close set T's

The system will be a primary,secondary system with a 199 Munchkin with an indirect 80 gallon using the Munchkin Vision system.
I am running a 1 1/2" primary loop and running 3/4" to the manifolds. All the zones are using circulators. I was always told 4 times the pipe diameter for close sets. But when I was told this no one ever specified if that is the primary loop size or the circuit size. I have heard no more than 12" apart.
Also I only planned on using the boiler circulator for the primary loop since each zone had its own circ. pump.

Looking for advice
Hello all,
Does anyone know a rule of thumb for close set T's. Distance between the sets of supply and return T's. I have a job where I have to supply heat to 7 zones and I have a cramped area to work with. Any thoughts?

some folks have bigger thumbs than others, So what are you doing? Steam? Hot water ? domestic water, primary secondary , Mono-flo ? A little more info. could get you a more accurate answer.0 -
spacing between sets
I did plans for a job recently and called for a minimum of 18" spacing between sets.
However, then I posted here because I had been seeing conflicting info, and learned (Dan H. replied) that a minimum spacing between sets is not required. If they are hydraulically-isolated, they are isolated, period.
Within a set, I called for not more than 4 pipe diameters between take-off and return.0 -
If you
have primary secondary arrangement , then no more than 12" between supply and return. Less is better.0 -
Do you mean
The supply and return to each other. If so I have put them as close a 1" with my T-Drill.
As for a sets of S&R to each other I'd say 6" would be adequate. Did I hear 4 times the pipe diameter somewhere, between sets?

For a Set
Space your supply and return T's a maximum of 4 diameters apart. This is the diameter of the primary loop. If you are using a 1" primary it would be 4", if 1 1/2" then 6" etc.etc. I remember reading somewhere in my literary travels that the next set down the line should be a minimum of 6 diameters from the first. I have never had problems resulting from using those design criteria.0 -
