    Goodyear CYA???

I received a call from a building owner-( large Body Shop)yesterday. We installed entran II in two large shops several years ago. He had a visit from the Goodyear people a few days ago. They inspected the system and left him w/ a list of reccomendations including PH corrections and some piping changes. I haven't yet seen the list but wondered if any of you in the WET WET WORLD have heard of this in your area, if so What resulted?????????? I put in a few miles of entran II and have had no problems. I continue to use Onix and like it very well. My feeling is that Goodyear will sidestep any liability if all of these recomendations are not followed exactly as they prescribe.

This is the Goodyear link for E-2.

I have been told not to flush these old E-2 systems, as you may flush out the plasticzers (sp) that are keeping the hose together. Test the fluid and add the needed buffers, as per Goodyears advice. Keep an eye on it, cross your fingers, and don't offer any warranty after you work on one :)

I have had some failures, including the low temperature slab applications. It's not pretty.

    Some more thoughts

First I would pressure test the entire system. No sense in adding chemicals if you have small leaks. With the fill system disconnected use an accurate gauge and check at least overnight. I use a large faced 30 lb gauge to see best.

Check all the manifold connection clamps. Check for hose discoloration, the early signs of hardening of the arteries.

Date code on the tube? Size of printing? Goodyear made some, and production went back to Dayco when issues evolved with GY. Date code and print size will determine the manufacture. In all honesty I havent seen the Dayco brand harden.

The clamps and barbs have always been the weak link, in my opinion. Every version of these I used had problems. Some at time of install, others down the road as the tubing aquired a memory and connections would seep at off season "cold" times"

I had problems holding a 30 psi air test on the last rubber system I installed in 99/2000. I believe the fitting has been worked on, again, since then. Good luck!
